Developing materials and supporting technologies for robust power electronics and systems

UDRI’s Advanced Power Components (APC) researchers provide device to system-level solutions for problems plaguing aerospace electronics. UDRI has been supporting research in semiconductor sciences, advanced power systems and electrical technology at the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) for over 25 years.

The Advanced Power Components Group develops materials and supporting technologies for power systems. Our expertise includes thin film deposition and processing; materials characterization; device to system level design, fabrication, and testing; thermal management of electronic components; fuel cell and energy storage development; magnetics and generator research; and computer modeling and simulation.

Our primarily customer is the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), Aerospace Systems Directorate. We also work closely with GE Aerospace, Akron PolyVolt, Inc., OxEon Energy, LLC and Special Power Sources (SPC) LLC.
