Solving RF Challenges with Expert Analysis.
UDRI’s Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) personnel conduct remote sensing research focused mostly on radio frequency (RF) and Light Detection And Ranging (LiDAR) sensors. However, our expert researchers also undertake important work in radar systems and components; processing, detection, and data products; Electro-Optics (EO); LADAR; target phenomenology; electromagnetic effects and environment; and other related areas.
Our ISR research primarily benefits United States government customers such as the United States Air Force (USAF), Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), National Air and Space Intel Center (NASIC), Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC), but also supports industry and commercial partners as well.
Unique capabilities enabled by unique facilities
Mumma Radar Lab
The Mumma Radar Laboratory is a center of radar and electronic warfare research, mainly supporting government agencies, industries, and small businesses. The lab is a semi-anechoic chamber with 4 Motoman robotic arms that allow for spatial diversity measurements in mono-, bi- and multi-static environments.
Practical Investigation and Prototyping for EW Research (PIPER) Lab
In collaboration with the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR), UDRI has stood up a Software Defined Radio (SDR) Lab that enables engineers in Mumma to research Spectral & Waveform diversity as well.
Electromagnetic Materials Characterization (EMMC) Lab
UDRI has also invested in the creation of the EMMC Lab. This lab performs material characterization of various materials and enables research and development of novel EMMC techniques for simple and complex media.
