Profile

Dave Dunn serves as the Director of Initiatives, Innovation, and Collaboration at the University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI), where he leads strategic partnerships across government, industry, and academia to accelerate the transition of cutting-edge technologies into operational use. In this role, he cultivates collaborative ecosystems that drive digital transformation, workforce development, and commercialization of emerging technologies.

Previously, Dave served as Division Head for UDRI’s Power and Energy Division, where he led over 100 engineers, scientists, and technicians conducting research and development in areas such as alternative energy, microgrids, intelligent power systems, hypersonics, and energetics. He also led technology transition efforts across a wide range of projects, including advanced manufacturing, energy-efficient industrial processes, energy portfolio support, simulation and wargaming, and sustainment technologies—helping bridge the gap between innovation and implementation.

Dave brings nearly 30 years of leadership in military research, development, testing, and transition. He served 21 years on active duty as a U.S. Air Force officer, holding key positions in intelligence, flight test, the National Reconnaissance Office, the Rapid Capabilities Office, and the Holloman High Speed Test Track.
